Primary Swimming

Calrossy Anglican School sent a contingent of 40 swimmers to Maitland recently to compete in the HRIS (Hunter Region Independent School) Swimming Carnival on Thursday, March 8. Calrossy competed in the top division of the Carnival, based on past performances, which is spread over two days.

It was a fantastic team effort with many top 10 placings. However, there were some outstanding individual performances on the day. Year 6 student Amelia Simm won the 12-13 girls age champion with three first places, a second and a third placing. Amelia won the 50m, 100m (freestyle) and the 50m breaskstroke with times of 34.14; 1.12.71 and 42.37 seconds respectively.

Meantime, Calrossy’s 12-year boys won their age champion, with only two swimmers representing in that category, Archie Barnett and Jake Hebblewhite, also in Year 6. Archie placed second in the 12-13 boys 50m, 100m (freestyle) and 200m IM, with times of 31.83; 1.10.76 and 2.57.33 seconds.  While Jake placed second in the backstroke.

All three young swimmers have been selected in the HRIS Team to swim later this month at CIS (Combined Independent Schools) at SOPAC Homebush on Thursday, March 22, with a pathway to PSSA. Meantime, Calrossy is sending 50 Secondary Girls and Boys to HRIS Swimming at the Lambton Pool this Thursday.

It comes after Archie and Amelia blitzed it at the School swimming carnival winning their age championships and breaking school records along the way, they are also both the current New England North West Age Swimming Champs.

Archie and Amelia are both members of the Tamworth City Swimming Club, while Jake is with 360 Scully if any further details of the swimmers are required.
