Innovation & Technology

There is an emphasis on skills such as coding, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity - with technology integrated into every classroom, everyday.

Technology in and outside of the classroom is a focus area in Primary at Calrossy, with an IT Integrator working alongside class teachers to ensure our students are using the latest technology and software. The use of technology is meshed into the everyday curriculum, with teachers integrating STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Maths) into their classrooms. This includes the use of Makerspace Resources such as the green screen, robotics, Micro bits and Bee-Bots. There is also an emphasis on 21st Century skills such as coding, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity.

Technology in Primary also includes a focus on applied science outside of the classroom and innovation. This year that has included painting with spheros for our younger students and class visits to solar and wind farms, for older students. Students then tested their learning by building their own mini solar cars.

Calrossy has been at the forefront of this movement, with academic staff regularly attending workshops and conferences to demonstrate integrating STEAM in the classroom and curriculum.
