THE SCHOOL - Symbols

This crest incorporates the letters TCEGS (Tamworth Church of England Girls School).

Although the school is no longer known by TCEGS, the crest remains as the school insignia.

Laborare est orare - "To work is to pray"

The Australian native flannel flower (Actinotus helianthi), is represented on the stain glass windows of Calrossy House. The reason for its inclusion is unknown.

The Australian bush is a landscape known for its extremes. As with all Australian natives, the flannel flower must be adaptable and enduring in order to survive.

A flannel flower pendant is awarded each year to the Dux of Calrossy. It symbolises vigour, application and resilience.

A Scottish Thistle is included as one stained glass window in Calrossy House. It represented the Patterson family links to Scotland.

The school currently makes an award of the thistle to a member of staff who has made a significant contribution to the school.
