Curriculum Support - Enrichment and Extension Programs
While classroom enrichment and extension activities are integral
to the Calrossy curriculum, a further component to the extension
program is offered through the Calrossy Resources Centre.
Many students demonstrate mastery of the basic curriculum
and need additional enrichment or extension. The Enrichment
and Extension programs aim to provide every student with experiences
that promote critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning
and communication in ways that are appropriately challenging.
Enrichment activities aim to extend the student's learning
beyond the basic curriculum. In this program the student will
pursue an area of interest not necessarily related to the
curriculum. These activities often take the form of competitions
or online lateral thinking exercises.
Extension activities allow for greater depth of treatment
of topics within the current curriculum. Specialised learning
situations are integral to the extension program. This may
include Web quests, online School Certificate and HSC sample
exercises, volunteer work placement.
