Photography

Photography is available as an elective course of 100 hours in either Year 9 or 10 or as an elective 1 Unit course in Year 11.

Students explore the magic of photography developing skills in composing and shooting black and white film using a fully manual single reflex camera. Students then learn how to process the film and print black and white photographs using the school's fully equipped darkroom.

Digital photography is then explored using professional quality digital cameras. The students can manipulate their images on the computer using Adobe Photoshop learning photomontage techniques and the implications of different digital storage mediums. Images are printed using A4 and A3 colour laser printers on photographic paper.

Once digital photography is mastered the students storyboard a small film and use the digital video cameras to capture a short movie. The film can be edited using Imovie.

The course offers an overview to various photographic mediums empowering students to be confident with the technology and achieve desired aesthetic results.
