Boarding at Calrossy: A Home away from Home

Calrossy has one of the largest boarding enrolments among NSW girls' boarding schools. There are full-time, fortnightly and weekly boarders. They arrive from overseas, Sydney, the NSW central and north coast but most from central and north-west NSW.
The school's location in Tamworth means many families in central and northwest NSW have their daughters close to home. Students who live further away can travel quickly and easily using the regular daily services provided by air services, Country Link trains and buses.

Facilities

Boarding facilities present a variety of accommodation styles from group dormitories to single rooms in four boarding houses. Students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 are accommodated on campus. Students in Year 11 and some Year 10's live at Simpson, approximately 3km from main campus, and travel using public transport. The school buses provide transport for students after school hours.

A modern, three-ward dispensary is close to the boarding houses on campus. The highly qualified dispensary staff provides 24-hour health care. Students can access all health related services through the dispensary.

Responsibilities

At Calrossy Anglican School, our aim is to create a ‘home away from home’ atmosphere for the boarders.  Experienced boarding staff are responsible for boarders outside normal school hours, living in apartments within the boarding houses, where they are immediately accessible to students. There is regular liaison between boarding and teaching staff about individual boarders, their homework, study routines and welfare.  Boarding staff organise regular weekend outings, movies, social events and special activities for interest groups such as horse riders.

Boarders are encouraged to be involved in the local community through sport, church, youth groups, classes conducted by community groups, the Tamworth Conservatorium of Music and even part-time work.  New boarders are linked with daygirl families to provide local support and social contact.

Our Overseas Students

Calrossy Anglican School is a warm, welcoming, home-like environment.  Tamworth provides all of the facilities of a large city, but with the sense of community only a small town can offer.  We believe Calrossy provides an ideal environment for your daughter while she studies away from home.

Calrossy Anglican School is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). The school's Registration Number is 02316G. Calrossy accepts students from overseas into Years 9, 10, 11 and/or 12.

Overseas students are required to arrange a local guardian with whom they can stay during free weekends and term vacations. Students cannot remain at school during these scheduled holidays.

Calrossy Anglican School requires overseas applicants, for whom English is not their first language, to complete an English proficiency test after their application is received. The school will nominate an appropriate testing centre.  The test will be at the expense of the applicant.
