Multipurpose sport courts a win for Calrossy

Over the last 15 years the asphalt courts on our William Cowper Campus have served our School well with both Junior School and Secondary students using them daily. These courts are now being upgraded with the construction of two multi courts that will allow for our students to play Tennis, Netball, Basketball, Volleyball and 5 a side Soccer in a new fully fenced development.

This upgrade is part of the Calrossy Master Plan with the current courts making way for the construction of the next Multi Use Classroom block that includes a tiered seating theatrette and is due to commence later in the year.

Our local earthmoving contractors have been working extremely hard and have excavated the site ready for the team from Kangaroo Courts who have poured the concrete slab. This slab was poured in two sections and measures a total of 185 cubic meters.  As you can see in our time-lapse footage, the concrete trucks just kept coming.

The next step is the installation of the 3.5m high chain link fence, Basketball and Netball towers, coating of the surface and line marking with some further earthworks and tidy up of the site ready for the arrival of students and classes. While this work is underway, we have also used the opportunity to install drinking water, power and data to support the academic staff and also provide maximum flexibility for the site.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our contractors who have worked through the challenges of COVID restrictions to deliver this project which will make a huge impact to the way our PDHPE and Sport programs are delivered into the future.
