It began with a bold vision—and a strong sense of brotherhood.
In 2001, a new chapter in boys' education was written in Tamworth with the opening of the William Cowper Anglican Secondary Boys’ School. What started as a standalone boys’ school became part of something bigger in 2006, when it joined with Calrossy Anglican School—uniting tradition with innovation and creating a dynamic learning environment that values both individuality and community.
In 2025, Calrossy proudly marks the 25th anniversary of that founding moment. Today, the William Cowper Campus is home to boys from Prep to Year 9, where they learn, grow and build lifelong friendships in an environment tailored to their developmental needs. Middle School students learn in single-sex classes that nurture academic engagement while supporting personal and spiritual development.
At the heart of this journey is a focus on developing leadership, resilience, and a deep sense of community—values that continue to shape Calrossy boys long after they leave the school gates.
Supporting this spirit is the work of the Calrossy Archives and Development Office, both based on the Brisbane Street campus. Together, they are the custodians of our School’s history, preserving stories, photographs, and memorabilia that date back to 1919 and the foundation of the Tamworth Church of England Girls’ School. These shared stories help strengthen our community and connect past, present, and future students.

Michael Wilson, School Development Coordinator, reflects:
“Our alumni are a vital part of the Calrossy community. Many return year after year to reconnect, mentor current students, and celebrate our shared history. They also support the School by representing the Alumni Community on the Calrossy Foundation Committee, helping to expand opportunities for future generations. Their ongoing involvement in reunions and events strengthens the bonds that make Calrossy more than just a school—it’s a thriving community.”
The Calrossy Foundation – Scholarship Fund ensures a Calrossy education remains within reach for students from all backgrounds. Generous alumni support has helped fund scholarships that give young people the opportunity to thrive at Calrossy and beyond.
And thrive they do. From apprenticeships to university studies, and from trades to defence and agriculture, our graduates continue to make their mark—demonstrating the values of responsibility, leadership, and grit.
As Thomas (Year 7) says:
“I hear stories about the early days at Calrossy, how everyone got involved—whether it was playing in the band or running out for rugby on a Friday night. I really like that about this school. I’m looking forward to growing up and being able to tell the Cowper story, just like the boys who’ve been through here before me, always having fun and backing each other up.”
Now an integral part of a thriving coeducational school, the William Cowper Campus proudly maintains its unique character while embracing inclusivity—offering both brotherhood and belonging.
As Calrossy celebrates 106 years and the William Cowper Campus marks 25, the message is clear: We’re not just building students—we’re building futures, and a network of men committed to giving back.
