Service is woven into the fabric of life at Calrossy, where students are guided by faith and a shared commitment to compassion. From the classroom to the broader community, acts of kindness and generosity are encouraged as part of our mission to nurture purposeful lives. Inspired by the example of Jesus and grounded in the values of Selflessness, Integrity, Resilience and Inclusiveness, our students are learning that true leadership begins with serving others—whether nearby or across the globe. Giving isn’t reserved for a particular time of year; it’s a rhythm that shapes the Calrossy journey every day.
Earlier this month, students from across our campuses joined together to support Anglicare New England North West through our “Christmas in Almost July” initiative—an event that blends mid-year celebration with heartfelt community care. While festive in appearance, the event highlights a serious need: many families across our New England North West region continue to face financial hardship, loneliness, and uncertainty.
Through generous financial contributions from our students and families, Calrossy is helping Anglicare to fund the creation of food and gift hampers that will be distributed to those most in need. This close-to-home initiative ensures that support reaches local families at a time when it’s truly needed, providing comfort and dignity. For our students, being part of this outreach reinforces the Christian principle of loving and serving others, and reminds us that the spirit of Christmas is lived out through year-round compassion and action.

At the same time, our students—particularly within our Boarding community—will later this year begin preparations for another deeply meaningful act of service through Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. They will gather items, raise funds, and thoughtfully consider what to include in the shoeboxes destined for children in need across the world. Each box, packed with care, will become more than a gift—it will be a message of hope, love and encouragement from one young person to another.
Later this year, students will take part in packing these shoeboxes, engaging hands-on in the process and reflecting on the impact their small act of kindness can have across the globe. This meaningful involvement will invite students to live out their faith in practical, thoughtful ways—putting generosity and empathy into action.
This initiative not only helps meet practical needs but also shares the Gospel message, making the act of giving one that points directly to Jesus—the light of the world. The process of preparing each shoebox offers our students the chance to consider others beyond their own experience, fostering global awareness and compassion, all while working together as a community of faith.

In both of these efforts—supporting the Hamper Hub and preparing Operation Christmas Child boxes—Calrossy students are putting their faith into action. They are learning that service is not limited to any particular season, and that the values we uphold at school are the same values that shape lives outside the classroom.
As a Christian school, we believe that acts of generosity—large or small—reflect the love of God to the world. In these moments of service, our students are not only learning about leadership, empathy and compassion, but are also becoming creators of hope and change that matters.
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
