On Saturday evening, Calrossy Anglican School was proud to host over 200 members of the wider Calrossy community for a special VIP event, held in the new Dr Ted Giblin OAM Centre.

The event, hosted by the Calrossy Foundation, brought together alumni, past staff, Foundation Committee members and supporters for an exclusive first look at this inspiring new space on our Brisbane Street Campus.

Guests were guided through the building, experienced its outstanding acoustics through performances by talented student musicians, and heard heartfelt words from Principal Mr David Smith and Foundation Chair, Mrs Louise Ingall.

“The Ted Giblin Centre – wow – what an amazing space,” said Mrs Ingall. “It’s a fitting recognition of a Calrossy community member who gave so much to the School. This building is a leading example of modern education and what a difference a contribution can make.”

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a $325,000 cheque from the Calrossy Foundation to the School — a remarkable contribution that will support student opportunities and continue to transform the learning environment for future generations.

A Vision for Regional Excellence

Reflecting on the Foundation’s mission, Mrs Ingall encouraged guests to consider the long-term impact of investing in regional education.

“Our vision is to transform the landscape of regional education — to foster an environment where regional students can thrive,” she said.

“Could buying a seat, setting up a regular contribution, or making a lasting gift change the world in ways you could only imagine? I can tell you it has — and it will. If you say yes.”

Since its establishment in Calrossy’s Centenary year, the Foundation has supported bursaries, scholarships, and major infrastructure including the Annie Parr Centre and now the Dr Ted Giblin OAM Centre. These contributions are building a lasting legacy for the benefit of students, families and the wider regional community.

“This event may be the first time you’ve visited a Calrossy campus in years,” said Mrs Ingall. “Yet no matter where you are in your journey, we will all continue to benefit from developing regional students who are creative, collaborative, and knowledgeable.”

A Centre for the Future

The Dr Ted Giblin OAM Centre offers climate-controlled, flexible learning spaces, a performance auditorium, and quiet areas designed for deep thinking and creativity.

“My favourite space in the building is the classroom at the end of the hall, on the top floor — a view to the east, surrounded by trees and tranquillity. If you haven’t completed a tour yet, don’t miss it,” shared Mrs Ingall.

This Centre is not only a facility for today’s learners, but a promise to future generations that regional education matters — and will continue to evolve.
