Celebrating Creativity: Why Calrossy is bringing back the Art Show

Creativity is thriving at Calrossy – and it’s about to be shared with the wider community.

The Calrossy P&F Art Show 2025 is returning this October in spectacular form, bringing together more than 1000 artworks from Preschool to Year 12 students across the School, alongside the work of renowned professional artists from across the region.

The two-day event, which opens on Friday 24th October with a ticketed cocktail evening, is more than just an exhibition – it's a celebration of artistic expression, creative learning and community connection. The exhibition is much more than a display of student artwork; it also features pieces from leading regional artists, showcasing the depth of talent across our broader community and providing an inspiring connection between emerging young creatives and accomplished professionals.

Spearheaded by the School’s P&F, this celebration of art is both a platform for regional artists and aspiring creators, and a showcase of the creative minds within Calrossy. It also enables the Association to reinvest in the School’s creative pathways – including supporting initiatives such as the Ceramics Hub – ensuring future generations have the tools and spaces to thrive artistically both within and without of the school.

“We are so excited to be bringing together an outstanding lineup of professional artists, while also shining a spotlight on our students’ incredible talent,” says Jess Oehlers, from the Calrossy P&F Art Show Committee.

“It’s inspiring to see our students’ work displayed alongside established artists. It reinforces the message that their creativity has value,” adds Jess Clark, Calrossy’s Head of Creative and Performing Arts. “We’re proud to provide students with opportunities to explore and showcase their talents as part of their holistic growth and wellbeing.”

The Art Show also reflects Calrossy’s strong ties with its regional community as a leading regional boarding school and a 100 plus year history. By including professional artists from across Tamworth and New England, the School continues to support and celebrate local creative industries. Featured artists include Nerida Woolley, Deb Michelle Smith, and Paula Jenkins , alongside a diverse mix of painters, ceramicists, photographers, and sculptors.

“Art plays such an important role in building identity and confidence,” says Jess Clark. “At Calrossy, we see the benefits every day – in how students solve problems, express themselves, and develop their own unique perspective of the world around them.”
