Countless Opportunities for our Calrossy Students

  • 10 Mar 2023

The Calrossy Careers Department is putting our students in the drivers seat for future careers.

On Thursday, 9th of March, Calrossy Careers Advisor Mr Charles Impey together with seven Calrossy students had the opportunity to attended an interactive and insightful careers session hosted by the President of the Livestock Bulk and Rural Carriers Association, Mr Wade Lewis. Wade, together with four of his fellow industry experts, provided the students with a detailed summary and overview of their entire industry and possible career paths. The topic discussed included maintenance areas such as electronics, mechanics, welding, fabrication and boiler making. Students also were given insight into transport, freighting, logistics, warehousing, legal and ICT elements of the industry.

After this session, the Students were given the chance to drive two state of the art simulators.  The first simulator was the cabin of a truck and the other was a highly advanced dozer simulator which only arrived from the UK last week and was set up by an expert in simulation technology who landed from the USA this week.

The Livestock Bulk and Rural Carriers Assoc which is the peak industry body for the Rural and Regional transporters, are hosting their annual conference in Tamworth from the 9th to the 11th of March. With this in mind, our students were encouraged to drop back in on Saturday morning where they will have the opportunity to meet more people from the industry and discuss their career interests.

Mr Impey said  "Employment opportunities across this industry both locally and nationally are available to keen and interested students who present well and have enthusiasm as first impressions are one of the most important elements when seeking work across anyindustry".

The chance to start with any of our local or regional  transport companies which consists of Carey's Freightlines, Stockmaster, McCulloch Bulk Haulage and Parry's is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in this dynamic industry as the career paths are extensive.
