Calrossy Anglican School welcomed three generations of the Giblin family back to campus over the weekend for a special preview tour of the Dr Ted Giblin OAM Centre — a new facility named in honour of one of the region’s most respected medical professionals, arts advocates, and educational supporters.
During the visit, members of the Giblin family walked through the state-of-the-art Centre that pays tribute to their late father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dr Edward “Ted” Giblin OAM — a man whose lifelong service to Tamworth and its institutions continues to shape the city’s cultural and educational landscape.
The tour was led by Calrossy Principal David Smith and Calrossy Foundation Chair Louise Ingall, who shared the vision behind the project and updated the family on construction progress and community involvement.
“This building will cater for the growing needs of Calrossy and its students for years to come,” said Ms Ingall. “It is so appropriate that it carries the name of Dr Ted Giblin — a man whose deep connections to both medicine and music left a lasting legacy in this region.”

In addition to his contributions to healthcare and the arts, Dr. Giblin served with distinction as Council Secretary of the then Tamworth Church of England Girls' School, a predecessor of Calrossy Anglican School. His leadership and service to the school community during that time laid important foundations for its development into one of the region’s leading independent schools.
His commitment to education, culture and community was recognised nationally with the awarding of the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
Dr. Giblin was a pioneering gynaecologist, WWII Army Medical Corps officer, and for over two decades, president of the Tamworth Arts Council . He was renowned for his theatrical performances, especially in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, and was deeply committed to enriching regional life through music, culture, and service.
Among those returning will be Belinda Giblin , Ted’s daughter and acclaimed Australian actress, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren — many of whom have continued the family’s legacy of contribution across the arts, education, and healthcare.

The Giblin family’s return marks a celebration of legacy, leadership, and connection — and a meaningful milestone as Calrossy prepares to open a Centre that will serve generations of students to come.
