In the lead-up to one of Calrossy Junior School’s most heart-warming events, our Year 2 students stepped out of the classroom and into the Ceramics Hub for a special creative experience.
With clay in hand and sleeves rolled up, the students explored the tactile art of making pinch pots. Guided by staff and fuelled by imagination, they shaped, moulded and decorated their clay creations with care and joy. Each pot reflects the individuality of its maker – a symbol of love and gratitude ahead of Grandparents’ Day.
The session wasn't just about art – it was a chance to engage deeply in learning through doing. The process sparked rich conversations, encouraged collaboration, and gave our students a chance to practise patience and persistence, all wrapped up in a bundle of messy fun.
Their pots will soon be kiln-fired and ready to present with pride. We look forward to celebrating the bond between generations when our grandparents visit soon – and we know they’ll be touched by the beautiful, handmade gifts created with such thought and effort.
