Calrossy students achieved excellent results at the Glen Innes Show over the weekend, competing across parading, cattle classes and junior judging.

The event provided an important opportunity for students to demonstrate the practical skills developed through the School’s Agricultural program, including preparation, handling and presentation of stud and steer cattle. The program is supported by the School farm, Tangara, and the Kamilaroi Shorthorn Cattle Stud.

Four students qualified for Class F002, the RAS Ag Shows NSW Beef Cattle Paraders’ Competition at the Royal Easter Show:

Evy Walsh (Year 11), Stirling Wheatley (Year 11), Hugo Blomfield (Year 10), and Isabella Wheatley (Year 11)

Qualification for this state level competition reflects a high standard of consistency and competence in parading.

Isabella Wheatley has qualified for the Meat Sheep Junior Judging later this year at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney, with Aiden Rudder (Year 10) named as First Reserve for the Fleece Judging, and Ava Mazato (Year 9) named First Reserve for Fruit and Veg judging.

Paraders Class Results

In the 13 to 15 Years Paraders Class, Calrossy students secured first, second and third place

First Place - Kenzi Ison (Year 9)

Second Place - Stella Walsh (Year 9)

Third Place - Ava Stevens (Year 8)

Harper Will, a Year 8 boarder, was awarded Grand Champion Parader. This is a significant achievement, particularly at this stage of schooling.

Cattle Results

Students also recorded strong results in the cattle ring

Darcy Gleeson-Wiley (Year 9) led Kamilaroi Yassi to win Reserve Champion Heifer and Senior Champion Shorthorn Female, with the awards announced in the main arena

Ellie McCulloch (Year 11) led Kamilaroi Madi to win Grand Champion Shorthorn Female

Stirling Wheatley (Year 11) led Calrossy Trouble to win Grand Champion Purebred Steer

Kenzi Ison (Year 9) led Calrossy Scrabble to win the Crossbred Steer Class

These results reflect careful preparation and consistent training in cattle handling and presentation.
