Kindness, empathy, and connection were front and centre as Calrossy Junior School came together to celebrate its inaugural Friendology Day—an uplifting and meaningful way to conclude the term.

The day began with a special assembly led by our Year 4 students, setting a reflective tone for a program of age-appropriate activities that brought to life the friendship skills students have been building throughout the term. From creative songwriting and headband making to banner design and buddy reading groups, the activities reinforced key concepts from the URStrong Friendship Framework.

The Friendology program is delivered from Prep to Year 6, tailored to meet students where they are developmentally, with new skills and understandings introduced as they progress through school. This consistent approach helps build emotional awareness, resilience, and strong communication across every stage of a child’s journey.

The celebration was the culmination of Term 2’s wellbeing focus, following on from staff training and a parent information session held earlier in the year. Though the lessons were formally embedded in PDHPE, the shared language and values are carried across the school environment, helping create a supportive and respectful culture.

Our Year 6 leaders took on key roles throughout the day, offering guidance and encouragement to their younger peers while modelling what it means to build and sustain healthy friendships.

Families are encouraged to continue the conversation at home, using age-appropriate tools and language that support emotional awareness, respectful communication, and strong, healthy friendships beyond the classroom.
