Marking the Start of a Leadership Journey: Calrossy’s 2026 Induction Service

This morning, Calrossy Anglican School proudly welcomed its newest cohort of student leaders in a moving Leadership Induction Service held at Bishop Peter Chiswell Hall on our William Cowper Campus.

Led by Head of Senior Secondary, Miss Julia Boland, the service marked a significant milestone for our student community, celebrating the character, commitment and Christian values that underpin leadership at Calrossy.

The morning began with a thoughtful Acknowledgement of Country from 2026 SRC member Ella Tanna, recognising the Kamilaroi people, the traditional custodians of the land, and setting a respectful tone for the gathering.

Musical talent was on display as Oliver Scott (piano) and Lucy Furner (vocals) led the National Anthem, bringing the community together in a moment of pride and unity.

The Bible reading was shared by Claire Fisher, 2026 Chapel Prefect, who read from Mark 10:42–45 — a fitting passage that reflects Jesus’ call to lead through service.

Principal Mr David Smith delivered an inspiring address, encouraging students to see leadership not as a position of status, but as a call to serve others with humility, courage and compassion. He spoke about the importance of a servant-hearted approach, reminding students that servant leadership is the cornerstone of influence at Calrossy. Drawing on the example of Jesus, he challenged our 2026 leaders to lead by lifting others, putting people before position, and being a steady source of hope and strength within the school.

Following his message, leadership badges were presented to the incoming 2026 leaders. Together with the Principal, they then read the Calrossy Leadership Pledge, committing themselves to uphold the School’s values of Resilience, Selflessness, Integrity and Inclusiveness.

A musical highlight of the service was the performance of “In Christ Alone” , beautifully sung by Miss Amanda Willey, Mrs Stephanie Heywood, and Mrs Dianne Cameron, accompanied by Mr Matthew Frazer on piano and Year 11 student Jennifer Sung on violin — a poignant reminder of where true strength is found.

To close the service, Rev. Mark Rundle led the prayer and benediction, sending our student leaders into the year ahead with God’s guidance and blessing.

We extend our sincere thanks to the many parents, families and staff who attended in support of our student leaders. Your presence reflects the strong partnership between home and school that is so deeply valued at Calrossy.

Our 2026 student leaders now step into their roles equipped not only with badges, but with purpose — ready to serve, encourage and lead with faith and humility.
