More than a rugby match, Red v Blue is a celebration of our Alumni community — bringing former students back to Tamworth to reconnect with old friends, revisit Calrossy and celebrate the friendships and traditions that continue well beyond graduation.

Whether you are pulling on a Red or Blue jersey, catching up with classmates, joining us in the Ladies Marquee, or simply coming along to enjoy the weekend, there are plenty of reasons to come back to Calrossy.

Importantly, Red v Blue also has a greater purpose. Funds raised through Red v Blue 2026 will support the Calrossy Foundation – Bursary Fund, helping provide opportunities for families who may otherwise be unable to access a Calrossy education. By coming back, getting involved or supporting the weekend, our Alumni are helping create opportunities for the generations that follow.

Friday 2 October | Welcome Back to Calrossy

The weekend begins on Friday 2 October 2026 with our Alumni Welcome Event at the Dr Ted Giblin OAM Centre Auditorium on William Cowper Campus.

Reconnect over drinks, enjoy the official jumper presentation and take the opportunity to see Calrossy as it is today, with guided tours of the William Cowper and Brisbane Street campuses.

For many Alumni, it will be a chance to discover buildings and spaces that were still being developed when they graduated — or simply didn't exist yet.

The Welcome Event is proudly presented in partnership with The Count Charitable Foundation and Financial Map.

Saturday 3 October | Red v Blue at Scully Park

On Saturday, Red v Blue moves to Scully Park for an afternoon and evening of rugby, reunions and Calrossy community.

A full program of matches will build towards the Alumni fixtures under lights, when Old Girls and Old Boys once again have the opportunity to pull on their colours and renew one of Calrossy's great rivalries.

Ladies Marquee

Not coming for the rugby? Perfect.

The Red v Blue Ladies Marquee offers another way to enjoy the day — a dedicated space to gather with friends, reconnect with fellow Alumni and enjoy a little something special while taking in the atmosphere at Scully Park.

Classy, fabulous and made for catching up, the Ladies Marquee is about good company, great conversation and celebrating the friendships that make coming back worthwhile.

You don't have to be at Scully Park to be part of Red v Blue.

Alumni can Own a Number and put their support behind one of the Red v Blue players, with proceeds supporting the Calrossy Foundation.

Play. Cheer. Reconnect. For the Old Boys, Red v Blue is a chance to reconnect with lifelong friends and relive some of the most memorable moments of our school years and playing on Friday nights together. It’s about camaraderie, pride, and giving back to the community that shaped us.

Saturday Fixtures

The 2026 match program includes:

  • Under 23 Colts
  • Old Boys
  • Old Girls

Teams are drawn from alumni across multiple graduating years. Each side is coordinated by alumni captains and supported by volunteer managers, maintaining the strong tradition of alumni leadership that underpins the event.

Shields Contested in 2026

Three long-standing honours will again be contested:

  • The Cowper Shield – Old Boys fixture
  • The Thistle Shield – Old Girls fixture
  • The Red vs Blue Shield– Colts fixture

These shields represent more than match results. They reflect tradition, contribution and the ongoing strength of the Calrossy Community in particular the strength of the rugby program across the School. Combined with these shields we are also proud to present the Wendy Wheeldon Player of the Match, The Bruce Veitch Memorial Trophy and the inaugural Hugh Howey Spirit of the Game Award.

Supporting the Calrossy Foundation

Funds raised across the Red v Blue Alumni Weekend will support the Calrossy Foundation – Bursary Fund.

The Bursary Fund provides fee assistance to students who would otherwise be unable to access a Calrossy education. Alumni participation, event attendance and fundraising contributions directly assist in creating educational opportunities for current and future students.

Red v Blue therefore connects past, present and future — alumni returning to represent their colours while contributing to meaningful and lasting impact through the Foundation.

Red v Blue Alumni Weekend is structured to:

  • Provide a competitive and well-organised rugby environment
  • Encourage alumni reconnection through shared sporting experience
  • Maintain alumni ownership of team preparation and match coordination
  • Celebrate the legacy of past players while welcoming new generations
  • Support the Calrossy Foundation Bursary Fund

Red v Blue 2026 continues as a flagship alumni sporting event defined by alumni leadership, alumni participation and the contest for the Wheldon, Cowper and Red vs Blue Shields.
