Red v Blue 2026 Returns for an Alumni Reunion Over the October Long Weekend

Red v Blue 2026 will once again bring together alumni, families and the wider community for a weekend of rugby, reunion and celebration under lights at Scully Park.

Built on tradition and driven by alumni for alumni, the event provides an opportunity for former students and players to reconnect, compete and celebrate the strong sporting culture that continues to unite generations.

School Development Coordinator, Michael Wilson, said the school is proud to support an event that continues to grow through alumni leadership and engagement.

“The Red v Blue Weekend reflects the passion and strength of connection that continues long after students graduate. It’s a great reason to come together over the October long weekend, reconnect with teammates and celebrate the tradition of Red v Blue.”

The weekend will commence with the Welcome Function and Player Jumper Presentation, hosted in the newly developed Dr Ted Giblin OAM Centre, providing a fitting setting to gather, reconnect and celebrate ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

Our alumni community will have the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates, meet past and current staff and reflect on the growth of the school and its facilities — particularly the significant developments across the past eight years.

Across the weekend, alumni and guests will also be invited to participate in tours of the School’s Brisbane Street and William Cowper Campuses, showcasing recent developments, modern learning spaces and boarding facilities. These tours provide insight into how the school continues to evolve while honouring its history and legacy.

The Red v Blue program will feature a full schedule of rugby and community celebration at the renowned Scully Park Regional Sporting Complex.

The weekend will begin with curtain raiser matches including the Calrossy Under 14 Girls and Under 16 Boys Both teams who will compete against opposition sides (opponents to be announced), providing younger players with the opportunity to experience the excitement of playing on the Red v Blue stage. With an anticipated crowd of approximately 1,500 people, these matches offer a fantastic platform for our junior players to compete in front of a strong and supportive audience.

With our Old Girls Red v Blue teams competing in Rugby Tri Tag in 2026, to provide a more inclusive, non-contact, high-tempo and skill-driven format that welcomes returning players and cross-code athletes. Tri Tag continues to grow as an exciting addition to the program, offering competitive yet accessible for wider participation.

This year also sees the introduction of the Under 23 game, strengthening the pathway between recent graduates and Old Boys rugby. The fixture provides emerging players with the opportunity to reconnect, represent their colours and showcase the skill development that began during their time in the Friday Night Rugby Competition.

The traditional Old Boys Red v Blue clash will take place under lights, delivering a healthy dose of rivalry, full of energy and atmosphere that make this bi-annual fixture a standout on the alumni calendar. This match remains the centrepiece of the weekend and continues to draw strong support from players, families and the broader community.

Adding to the atmosphere, we are excited to announce the return of the Prickly Thistles Alumni Band, who will entertain the crowd throughout the event — creating a vibrant backdrop to the on-field action and enhancing the overall community celebration.

Our alumni and wider community have always demonstrated a strong commitment to serving and supporting meaningful initiatives. This is no different in 2026 where again all funds raised across the Red v Blue weekend will be donated to support the Calrossy Foundation Bursary Fund , helping to provide access to education and meaningful opportunities for students.

Every contribution strengthens the Foundation’s ability to support current and future students, investing in both people and purpose-built learning spaces that benefit generations to come.

Donations to the Foundation directly support student access, opportunity and facility development that enhances teaching and learning outcomes.

Red v Blue 2026 is more than a match — it is a reunion, a celebration of tradition and a meaningful way for alumni to invest in the future.

Rally your mates. Choose your colours. Get along to Scully Park.

We look forward to welcoming you back this October.
