Calrossy alumni returned to Tamworth from near and far over the October long weekend for the 2026 Red vs Blue Alumni Weekend, bringing together former students for reunions, connection, friendly rivalry and a celebration of the friendships formed during their school years.
Held every two years, Red vs Blue has become an opportunity for alumni to come home to Calrossy, reconnect with old friends and celebrate their shared history – whether they are there for the rugby or simply for the chance to catch up.

The weekend began with the Welcome Function on Friday evening, giving alumni the opportunity to reconnect and settle into the weekend ahead. A special part of the evening saw Joe Goldsworthy present jerseys to the Red vs Blue players, officially setting the scene for the following day’s action.
Game Day at Scully Park brought even more alumni together, with former students travelling from Queensland, the Central West, the Hunter, Sydney and across the bridges to be part of the weekend.
This year, it was particularly special to welcome back the Classes of 2016 and 2021 for their respective 5 and 10 year reunions, with alumni travelling from as far as the Northern Territory and Victoria to celebrate alongside their classmates.
Each reunion group was treated to its own dedicated space at Scully Park, providing the perfect place to settle in, enjoy food and drinks and spend time catching up with old friends. With a great vantage point overlooking the rugby action, alumni could enjoy as much or as little of the game as they liked – because Red vs Blue is just as much about reconnecting as it is about what happens on the field.

There was also plenty to celebrate on the field. The Red Team continued its winning run in the Old Boys Classics, securing a three-peat and the Cowper Perpetual Shield, with Russell Johnson receiving the Bruce Veitch Memorial Trophy.
The Blue Team claimed the honours in the Old Girls match, taking home the Thistle Perpetual Shield, while Jemma McDouall was awarded the Wendy Wheeldon Player of the Match Trophy.
A new chapter in the Red vs Blue tradition also began with the inaugural Under 23s fixture. The Blue Colts became the first recipients of the Red v Blue Cup, with Ryan Witherdin receiving the Hugh Howey Spirit of the Game Award.
Another special moment across the weekend was the presentation of the 2026 Alumni Community Award to Angus Gulliver, recognising his contribution to the Calrossy Alumni Community.
The weekend was proudly supported by Major Sponsors Financial Map and Count Charitable Foundation, together with Buy a Number sponsors DTM Tamworth, Platinum Pro Security, Morgan and English, Belmore Hair Cottage, Hancocks Accountants, Gunrad Industries and Tamworth SkipEze. Their support helped make another memorable weekend possible for our alumni and wider community.

While there was plenty of competition on the field, the real highlight of Red vs Blue was seeing generations of alumni back together. From reunion groups sharing stories and memories to former students pulling on a jersey once again, the weekend was a reminder that connections made at school can continue long after the final bell.
Thank you to everyone who travelled, played, supported, reunited and contributed to making Red vs Blue 2026 such a memorable weekend. We look forward to bringing our Alumni Community together again when Red vs Blue returns in 2028.
For those who couldn’t join us this year but would still like to be part of the lasting impact of Red vs Blue, you can continue to show your support through the Calrossy Foundation. No matter where you are, every contribution helps strengthen the future of Calrossy and create opportunities for generations to come.
