Families, friends and special guests gathered in Bishop Peter Chiswell Hall earlier this week to celebrate an important milestone for our Year 12 students at the Class of 2026 Graduation Assembly.
The occasion provided an opportunity to recognise the journey of our graduating students, celebrate their achievements and reflect on the many experiences and people who have shaped their time at Calrossy.
We were delighted to welcome Mrs Tarran Deane, Class of 1984 and current member of the Calrossy Board, as guest speaker. Drawing on her own experiences beyond the school gates, Mrs Deane encouraged the Class of 2026 to “let the clutch out” on life and embrace the opportunities, challenges and experiences that lie ahead.
A highlight of the morning came from some of our youngest students, with Prep taking on the important task of answering the tough questions about life in Year 12. Their responses brought plenty of smiles and laughter from the audience, with the video ending on one particularly memorable piece of advice for our graduating students: “Get out of here!”
The formal presentation of graduates followed, led by Principal Mr Mark Lewis, with each student announced by Deputy Principal Mr Mark Doran. Mr Lewis was assisted by Year 12 Advisor Mrs Laura Yeo and Head of Secondary School Ms Julia Boland as the Class of 2026 crossed the stage.
Among the presentations was a significant moment in the story of eCalrossy, with students from the original cohort, who joined the program when it was first introduced, among this year’s graduates. It was a special milestone for our distance education program and a reflection of how far eCalrossy has come since its beginnings.
The Class of 2026 also rallied together in support of the Year 12 Legacy Gift, continuing a tradition established by the cohorts who have gone before them. As part of the Graduation celebrations, a cheque representing their contribution was presented to the Calrossy Foundation, leaving a lasting legacy that will help support Calrossy families and students into the future.
While Graduation marks the end of one chapter, the connection to Calrossy does not end at the school gates. As the Class of 2026 takes its next steps, our community will continue to walk alongside them – celebrating where they have come from, the people who have shaped their journey and all that lies ahead.
