The Calrossy Cattle Team has returned from the Tamworth Show with plenty to celebrate, following an impressive collection of results for both our students and Kamilaroi Shorthorn cattle.
Among the highlights were six students qualifying for the F002 Sydney Royal Parades, with Regan Banks, Hayden Evans, Stella Walsh, Harper Will, Isabella Wheatley and Stirling Wheatley earning the opportunity to compete at the next level. Stirling and Sarah Tongue also qualified for Sydney Royal Junior Judging.
Our students performed strongly in the paraders competition, with Jess McDouall named Sub Intermediate Age Champion. In the Intermediate division, Regan Banks was named Age Champion, while Isabella Wheatley secured Reserve Age Champion.
Success in the Cattle Classes
It was an outstanding Show for our Kamilaroi Shorthorn heifers, who secured a clean sweep of the top three placings in both the Heifer Jackpot and Heifer Classes.
Kamilaroi Tegan, led by Ebony Streater, claimed first place in both competitions, followed by Kamilaroi Regan, led by Stella Walsh, in second and Kamilaroi Lara, led by Ava Mazarto, in third.
The success continued in the bull classes. Kamilaroi Winston, led by Isabella Wheatley, secured first place before going on to be named Reserve Champion Junior Bull. Kamilaroi Wizard, led by Hayden Evans, and Kamilaroi Woodpecker, led by Elliot Fenton, each earned second-place finishes, while Kamilaroi Walter, led by Stirling Wheatley, placed third.
Strong Steer Results
Our Calrossy steers also performed strongly across the weight divisions.
In the Lightweight class, Calrossy Hotcakes, led by Harper Will, took first place, with Calrossy McNugget finishing second. Calrossy Big Mac, led by Jess McDouall, secured first place in the Middleweight class, while Calrossy McSpicy, led by Isabella Wheatley, finished fifth in the Heavyweight class.
These results are a wonderful reflection of the time, preparation and teamwork that goes into the Calrossy Cattle Team and Agriculture program. From preparing and caring for the cattle to developing the skills and confidence required in the show ring, our students continue to represent Calrossy with enthusiasm and dedication.
