As the Year 9 boys explored Brisbane on their recent expedition, they were accompanied by someone whose own journey with Calrossy spans decades.
Mr Joe Goldsworthy's return to the School is more than the addition of an experienced educator. It is the return of a mentor, coach and Christian leader whose influence has helped shape generations of students.
Calrossy is delighted to welcome Mr Goldsworthy back as a valued member of the Christian Studies team on a part-time basis. His return marks a special homecoming to a community he has faithfully served for many years. His story is deeply woven into the history of both Calrossy Anglican School and William Cowper Anglican Secondary Boys School.
As an educator, mentor and coach, Joe has always believed that a Christian school is about far more than academic achievement or sporting success. It is about helping young people discover their God-given potential, encouraging them to lead lives of integrity, compassion, and purpose.
Sport in particular Rugby has long been one of the vehicles through which Joe has lived out that mission. Whether coaching from the sideline or encouraging students in everyday conversations, he has consistently demonstrated that leadership begins with character and that success is measured not only by the scoreboard but by how we treat others.
His return to the Calrossy Rugby Program provides the next generation of Calrossy students with the opportunity to learn from someone who understands the rich traditions of school while preparing young people for life beyond the playing field.
Joining the Christian Studies team is equally significant. Mr Goldsworthy's passion for sharing the Christian faith, nurturing respectful relationships, and encouraging students to live lives of service reflects the values that have underpinned Calrossy since its foundation in 1919.
It is especially fitting that he will present the traditional Red V Blue jumpers to the Classic Old Boys during this year's Alumni Reunion Weekend. For generations of players, those colours have represented friendship, resilience, school pride and belonging, values he has championed throughout his career.
His return is more than a familiar face coming home. It is a reminder of the enduring impact that faithful educators have on the lives of young people and the strength of a community built on Christian values.
Welcome back, Mr Goldsworthy. Your wisdom, faith and servant-hearted leadership continue to inspire the Calrossy community, and we are grateful to have you back where your journey has touched so many lives.
